In the spring of 2012, we added motion graphics to our service offerings. To announce this new product to our customers, we decided to create an animated video utilizing artwork from a previously designed project with the same content. We had designed the original infographic a year prior to also bring attention to a new service offering at the time. In addition to this goal, both projects also shared the goal of getting a major marketing publication to publish them.
Because we wanted to reach a target client base of marketers, we chose a topic that would connect with them through a combination of humor and hard numbers. The highly illustrated infographic displayed our newest level of design while animating it gave us an opportunity to show clients what could be done with animated video. On both occasions, Guy Kawasaki picked up the piece and shared it across his social networks. The Creative Bloq also wrote an article about the motion graphic and its development a few months after initial release, breathing new life into the content and leading to further pickup from media outlets.
