Geek vs. Nerd
Crafted by senior design wizard Hannah, this infographic delivers a data-rich spin on the "versus" niche of infographic design. Bearing the same posture and open-mouthed glee, the Geek and the Nerd present remarkably different overall appearances despite all the similarities. Color coding throughout makes it easy to follow what's describing a geek versus a nerd. Hannah plays with orientation and creative data visualization to avoid visual monotony, and a patterned background breaks up the khaki-ish color without being distracting or overpowering the controversial content.
Promoted by our head of marketing, Charlie Holbert, this infographic reached over 10 million people in its first month of release. It was shared on sites like Geekwire, Mashable, Bit Rebels and more and even won the 43rd annual Creativity International Awards as part of the best infographic series of 2012.
It's clear that people vastly prefer to be called a geek rather than a nerd. But now that you know the rules... which are you, really?
